Prof. René P. Orij

Associate professor of accounting, Nyenrode Business Universiteit

René Orij is an associate professor of accounting, Nyenrode Business University, Breukelen, the Netherlands. He teaches about accounting research, and its links with sustainability, corporate social responsibility and integrated reporting. He also performs research in that field.

His career started in banking in 1992 at Deutsche Bank group in Cologne, Luxemburg and Amsterdam. In 1999 he quit banking to become a microfinance advisor to a local bank in Vietnam. Back in Holland, he started lecturing in 2001, accounting / finance / entrepreneurship, which he has done since then, at Inholland University of Applied Sciences, Leiden University, and now, Nyenrode.

Throughout his career in education, René was involved in innovation, most prominent as managing director of an entrepreneurship center and as course director at the Law School of Leiden University. He initiated several activities around ‘tech’ in legal issues.
